Do Seek Their Meet From God

There are many things to things to think about in the short story “Do Seek Their Meet from God”, by Sir Charles G.D.  The author writes from two points of view in the story; the perspective the man, and the perspective of the panthers. It is easy to sympathize with the man and the boy, as chances are if you can read the story, you are human. In the perspective of the boy and the man, the panthers are savage beasts who are about to kill a child. This naturally makes them the villains in the story. However, since the panthers are only satisfying their hunger and have hungry cubs to feed, it is also easy to be sympathetic to their cause. In the Bible, humans are held above all other creatures by God, and killing a family of panthers is nothing compared to a human life. In my opinion, since both the humans and the panthers live in the forest and depend solely on the forest for survival, I would have preferred for the son of the man to get killed and feed a whole family, than spare one child and have the panther parents die and their cubs starve to death. Even though they are panthers and not humans, they are creatures nature just like the humans in this story, and their lives should not be less important than that of one weak little boy.
