Do Seek Their Meet From God

There are many things to things to think about in the short story “Do Seek Their Meet from God”, by Sir Charles G.D.  The author writes from two points of view in the story; the perspective the man, and the perspective of the panthers. It is easy to sympathize with the man and the boy, as chances are if you can read the story, you are human. In the perspective of the boy and the man, the panthers are savage beasts who are about to kill a child. This naturally makes them the villains in the story. However, since the panthers are only satisfying their hunger and have hungry cubs to feed, it is also easy to be sympathetic to their cause. In the Bible, humans are held above all other creatures by God, and killing a family of panthers is nothing compared to a human life. In my opinion, since both the humans and the panthers live in the forest and depend solely on the forest for survival, I would have preferred for the son of the man to get killed and feed a whole family, than spare one child and have the panther parents die and their cubs starve to death. Even though they are panthers and not humans, they are creatures nature just like the humans in this story, and their lives should not be less important than that of one weak little boy.

Love

Love
The warm summer breeze brings forth the aroma of pine needles and sap
It wafts over me and fills my lungs with pristine, wonderfully fresh air
Gulping in the scent selfishly, I try to enjoy the moment and make it last
Everything is in slow motion; nothing matters but the sound of wind rustling the leaves
The sun’s radiance warms the skin and puts me in a happy stupor
A drawn out loon call carries through the air, the echoes dispersing across the wilderness
The sound of the water rushing over rocks adds a joyous repetition that puts me in a trance
The sun sets over the hills, and the for a short time the sky is alit with a red glow
The chirping of crickets announces the arrival of night
An infinite amount of stars illuminate the sky, every single one seen clearly through the non-polluted atmosphere
A natural calm settles over me and the world is all quiet, save for the sound of crickets
I stay in this happy, uninterrupted bliss for hours on end, feeling perfect down to the very core
I feel so small, overlooking the moon and the countless stars
The world seems so beautiful and so vast, that it’s funny to think of all the trivial things that take up my time in the city
It’s better to just lie here and admire nature
My love of nature has always been with me even when I was young
Nature’s call is powerful and I am constantly drawn towards it
Nothing beats nature’s sights, sounds, and smells which continue to be destroyed by humanity
Too few places now have the mystical power that continues to draw myself and countless others back towards nature’s warm embrace
One thing is for certain
Nature is my true love
